FATHER’S HEIRS

As we enter into a special relationship with our Father – we become HIS heirs!

(Galatians 3:26-4:7) You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. What I am saying is that as long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a slave, although he owns the whole estate. He is subject to guardians and trustees until the time set by his father. So also, when we were children, we were in slavery under the basic principles of the world. But when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons. Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.

1. We Are SLAVES Without Christ

A. Unless I embrace Jesus as the Lord of my life, I am a slave to this world.

B. I can never pay this debt and set myself free.

(4:2) He is subject to guardians and trustees until the time set by his father.

2. We Are SAVED Through Christ

(3:26-27) You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

(4:4-5a) When the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law.

A. I couldn’t pay my own debt, so Jesus came to pay my debt for me.

B. Jesus sold Himself into slavery in order to free me from slavery.

Acts 4:12) Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.

3. We Are SONS With Christ

(3:26) You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

(4:6-7) Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.

(Romans 8:15-17) For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by Him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs - heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ...
