Psalm 33:12

“In order to ensure citizens freedom of conscience, the church in [this nation] is separated from the State, and the school from the church.”

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” (First Amendment, Establishment Clause)

(Psalm 33:12) Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord...

ONE NATION “OVER” GOD

A nation puts itself “over” God by embracing perverse doctrines – like these:

1.         A RELATIVE God is better than the REAL God”

            A.            Relativism:  Truth is relative.  There is no absolute truth.

            B.            Relativism:  Morality is relative.  There is no absolute morality.

            C.            The mantra of relativism is – tolerance.

            D.            Relativism:  God is relative.  There is no absolute morality

(Deuteronomy 4:6-8) Observe them carefully for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”  What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the Lord our God is near us whenever we pray to Him?

            E.            “Blessed is the nation whose God is the [REAL] Lord.”

2.         A SOMETIMES God is better than the SOVEREIGN God”

(2 Kings 17:37) You must always be careful to keep the decrees and ordinances, the laws and commands He wrote for you.

            A.            Our nation owes God our very existence.

“It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians, not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.” (Patrick Henry)

(2 Kings 17:38) Do not forget the covenant I have made with you, and do not worship other gods.  Rather, worship the Lord your God; it is He who will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies.  They would not listen, however, but persisted in their former practices.

            B.            Our nation only honors God sometimes.

            C.            “Blessed is the nation whose God is [ALWAYS] the [SOVEREIGN] Lord.”

3.         “A LITTLE BIT of God is better than NO GOD”

A.            These activities have been ruled unconstitutional:

1962 – Praying out loud in school.

1965 – Talking about religion in school.

1965 – Praying out loud over one’s meal.

1969 – War memorials in the shape of a cross.

1976 – Use of the name “God” in official school board writings.

1979 – Kindergartners asking in assembly about meaning of Christmas.

1980 – Ten Commandments on class room walls.

1985 – “God is great.  God is good.  Let us thank Him for our food.”

1985 – Opening or closing prayer in graduation ceremonies.

            B.            God has been almost driven completely out of our nation.

(Deuteronomy 32:28) They are a nation without sense; there is no discernment in them.

            C.            Our nation wants to hold onto just a little bit of God.

            D.            A lot of God is better than a little bit of God.

            E.            “Blessed is the nation whose God is the[COMPLETE] Lord.”
